Afasic provides information and training for parents of children with communication disabilities and professionals working in this specialist field.  They produce a range of informative publications.  www.afasic.org.uk

The Communication Trust aims to raise awareness of the importance of speech, language and communication across the children’s workforce and enable practitioners to access the best training and expertise to support all children’s communication needs.  www.thecommunicationtrust.org.uk 

Department for Education (DofE).  The government department responsible for education.  http:www.education.gov.uk

Independent Panel for Special Education Advice (IPSEA).  Provides free and independent advice throughout England and Wales.  www.ipsea.org.uk

The National Association of Independent Schools & Non-Maintained Special Schools (NASS)  works with and for special schools in the voluntary and private sectors within the UK. It provides information, support and training to its members in order to benefit and advance the education of young people with special educational needs.  www.nasschools.org.uk

Special Educational Needs and Disability Tribunal.  An independent judicial body which considers parents appeals against English local authorities decisions on sepcial education needs and parents' claims about disability discrimination by English schools and local authorities.  www.sendist.gov.uk
