St Catherine's bury a Time Capsule
03/11/2010
Pupils from St Catherine's took part in a burial of a time capsule under the new town square in East Cowes yesterday.
The students were invited by Waitrose and Wates Retail, who have built the new store to place a range of gems that would showcase life in 2010 under a commerative paving stone close to a listed wall in the centre of the square. Items placed in the capsule included a mobile phone, pictures of East Cowes, a school photo, coins and predictions for the future!
John Mash, Project Manager for Wates said "It's a great opportunity to leave future generations an insight into our lives".
Helen Freeston, Head of Further Education at St Catherine's said "The pupils have really enjoyed working on this project, making predictions of what life will be like in the future and writing letters for the finders of the time capsule. We would like to thank Wates for this opportunity".
