Phil Packer MBE 2012 Challenge

02/02/2012

Learners from St Catherine's met the inspirational Phil Packer and took part in his charity walk along with students from St George's School and the IW College yesterday.

Phil was serving in the army when he was injured in Iraq in 2008. He was told his spinal injury would mean he may never be able to walk again.

Against all odds he competed in the London Marathon in his wheelchair, but, as some feeling returned to his legs, he ended up walking the course. It took him two weeks to complete the 26 miles and resulted in him raising £1 million for Help for Heroes.

Phil is embarking on 2012 miles trek around the UK, to raise £15million for the BRIT Centre of Inspirational Excellence for young people facing adversity.
