OFSTED INSPECTION

As a non-maintained residential special, St Catherine’s School is required to have a yearly OFSTED care inspection and once every three years we are inspected by OFSTED for both education and care.  The most recent reports about the school published by her Majesty's Chief Inspector of Education, Children's Services and Skills can be found on the Ofsted website at:

A range of qualifications are available to students from Key Stage 4 according to ability. These include:


GCSEs (English, Design & Technology, History, Maths, Art, Religious Education. Music and Science);
ASDAN Award Scheme;
Entry Level Certificate (English, Maths and Science);
Entry Pathways (RE, Art, Design & Technology, Music, Humanities, ICT);
AQA Unit Award Scheme (RE, Design & Technology, Life Skills, Vocational Education, Media Studies); and
Information Technology Qualification (ITQ).

SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL NEEDS

Students at St Catherine's have a statement of special education need detailing their difficulties with speech, language and communication. Individual programmes incorporating education, therapy (Speech and Language Therapy and Occupational Therapy) and care ensure their needs are met.

CHARGING AND REMISSIONS
As a non-maintained school, it is not a requirement for us to have a charging and remissions policy.

St Catherine's vision is that all children and young people with speech, language and communication needs will fulfil their potential in life.  Our ethos supports effective learning, builds confidence and self-esteem. It reinforces our belief that the integration of speech and language therapy into the whole curriculum offers the best possible learning environment for young people.
