Occupational Therapy
When your child starts school at St Catherine’s, our team of occupational therapists begins by identifying their strengths and needs regarding their sensory, motor and perceptual abilities. These needs, many of which will have been overlooked in the past, will be fully explored through our detailed assessment process, offering parents and carers a profound insight into their child's unique requirements.
Every student at St Catherine’s benefits from a range of occupational therapies, delivered by trained specialists.
Sessions can be:
- one-to-one, in pairs or small groups
- class-based
- functional sessions within the local town setting, emphasising travel skills and community access
- or sessions involving residential houses and with families
These therapies are delivered within the framework of each child’s tailored plan.
Each year, an annual review report is prepared by the child’s occupational therapist. In each transition year, students will also complete a full re-assessment, informing decisions about their educational journey.
“The therapeutic and health team provides expert guidance and support to ensure that practice is well informed and makes a positive difference to students’ lives.”
