St Catherine's Success in the National Digital Twin Project

St Catherine’s has won two awards this year for our involvement in the National Digital Twin Project.

Firstly, in January, the group won the Best Presentation Award for their work on this year’s Resilience Challenge.  This was a competition over two days to produce an action plan based on real world possibilities.  This year’s theme was flooding and a real-world scenario was put to them and their task was deciding how best to deal with the impending flood and those who would be affected by it.  Students developed a plan and delivered it to a panel of dignitaries from all the Armed Services, all the Emergency Services, the Isle of Wight Council, Local Utilities and a team from Central Government.

As a direct result of this award, the group were invited to take part in the next phase of the project, which was to develop an app to share information in the event of a flood. The group worked incredibly hard over six weeks to plan out and build a prototype app that would successfully deliver the information needed in the event of a flood. For their efforts, the group were awarded the Design Solution Prize.

Both awards were outstanding achievements from the team of six students.
